How do I prevent mildew?

One of the quickest ways to damage your tent is by not drying it soon after it gets wet. Storing a wet tent for as little as 24 hours in warm weather can start the process of mildew formation.

Not only can mildew permanently damage the fabric coatings by causing them to separate from the fabric, dark mildew stains are permanent. They cannot be removed without potential harm to the fabric coatings. Removing these stains can void the warranty. Even when your tent appears to be dry after use, it is always best to assure it is completely dry before storing.

Open up the Rev Tent at home after a rainy camp trip and let it dry out completely before zipping it up. And there is no reason to zip up the Rev Tent all the way for storage. Leave a gap in the zipper to let air inside and moisture escape.

If your tent came with a silica moisture wicking packet, it’s not a bad idea to throw it in the tent for storage.

If you must clean your tent of mildew

You can try to spot clean affected areas with a solution of one part white vinegar to three parts water. Spray on the mildew, let it sit, scrub GENTLY, and then rinse thoroughly.  NOTE that removing the mildew may damage the water proof coating of the tent. So be cautious when applying solutions to the tent fabric.
